New ‘y’ Home is Dedicated As 800 Watch

The new home of the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association of Washington Heights was formally dedicated with ceremonies in the auditorium of the building at 178th street and Fort Washington avenue yesterday afternoon. A crowd estimated at 800 attended.

Following introductory remarks by Charles Cohen, chairman of the housewarming committee, addresses were delivered by Dr. Solomon Loewenstein, executive director of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies; Harry L. Glucksman, executive director of the Jewish Welfare Board; George Z. Medalie, former United States Attorney; Frank L. Weil, president of the Young Men’s Hebrew Association at Ninety-second street and Lexington avenue; and M. Maldwin Fertig, president of the Metropolitan League of Jewish Center Associations.

Benjamin F. Schreiber, president of the Washington Heights “Y,” acted as chairman. Musical numbers, solo and group, rounded out the program.
