Found guilty late last night of two counts in an indictment charging them with violation of the North Carolina “blue sky” laws, William Dudley Pelley, anti-Semitic Silver Shirt leader, and Robert C. Summerville, one of his aides, today enjoyed temporary liberty under bonds of $2,500 each.
Sentence will not be passed until February 18, Judge Wilson War-lick announced today. The pair face imprisonment for as long as five years on each count, or fines of $1,000, or both.
A third co-defendant, Don D. Kellogg, was free of all counts, while Summerville and Pelley were acquitted of the seventh count in the indictment.
