The thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Jewish Charities of Chicago will be held at the Standard Club Sunday evening. Governor Henry Horner is scheduled to speak.
Sol Kline, president for the last two and a half years, will retire from that office but will retain his position on the board of directors.
D. F. Kelly, president of the Catholic Charities of Chicago, and Edward L. Ryerson, Jr., president of the Community Fund, are listed on the program with Governor Horner as guest speakers.
Kelly, who has watched the growth of the Jewish Charities from its early days, will discuss the contributions which the organization has made to the planning and progress of social service activities in this city.
Eleven of the present directors, whose terms expire, have been nominated for re-election. Lester N. Selig, president of the General American Transportation Company, has been nominated to fill the only vacancy.
President Kline will deliver his annual report. Samuel A. Goldsmith, executive director, will discuss changes that may be expected to occur in the progress of the agencies affiliated with the Jewish Charities. Jan Kubelik, violinist, will play selections.
SONS OF ZION CENTER
A new center for Bronx members of the Order Sons of Zion has been opened at 55 West Burnside avenue, the Bronx Central Committee of the Order announced yesterday. A room has been fitted up as a library.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
