“Fewer people are needed now in all branches of life and it is not surprising that the Jewish youth are the first to feel the effect. It is a historic fact that the Jews of the Diaspora have been compelled to adapt themselves to fill the economic gaps in the life of their countries. And as these gaps were filled, Jews found their opportunities shut off. Christian youth were taking positions previously left to the Jews.
“The only way to meet the problem created is to intensify Palestine work and provide openings for young men to emigrate to Palestine. This type of work is the only solution for the hard lot of Hungarian Jewish youth,” Baron Hatvany declared.
