Nat M. Washer, “grand old man” of San Antonio, who was widely known throughout Texas for his activity in civic, educational, philanthropic and fraternal circles, is dead here at the age of 73 years.
Mr. Washer was chairman of the local NRA compliance board. For eight years he had been head of the state Board of Education. He was the oldest living past grand master of Texas Masons.
During the World War he acted as one of the four-minute speakers, delivering patriotic addresses. For years he staged annual Christmas dinners for local newsboys.
Burial services were under the joint auspices of Temple Beth-El, of which Mr. Washer was once a member of the board of trustees, and the Masonic order.
Emmanuel Hannaux, French sculptor, was made a chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
