The 250th anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach will be celebrated by the Jewish Choral Society, which will present two cantatas by Bach at programs on two successive Sunday mornings, February 10 and 17.

On February 10, Cantata 28, “O Praise the Lord,” will be sung. On the following Sunday, “Thou Guide of Israel,” Cantata 104, will be sung. The chorus will be assisted by the soloists of the Free Synagogue choir.

The Jewish Choral Society, which is under the direction of A. W. Binder, choirmaster of the Free Synagogue, has eighty voices.

Bach is regarded as one of the great composers of all times and also as the master par excellence of religious music.
