Mrs. Adina Grodzins, a well known European Zionist leader, is at present in this country to engage the interest of American women for the Tel Hai Fund. Tel Hai is a small colony in Galilee, where Captain Joseph Trumpeldor fell fighting for his people. The Tel Hai Fund is destined to further the two ideals for which Captain Trumpeldor lived and died: colonization and effective defense of the colonized land. Mrs. Grodzins came together with Mr. Jabotinsky to this country. It is her second visit to America.

A bridge party and tea under the auspices of the Women’s Auxiliary of Congregation Emanu-El was held this week at the Plaza for the benefit of the charitable activities of the auxiliary, which include a workroom for unemployed women.

Mrs. Edward B. Schulkind headed the group in charge of arrangements. Serving with her were Miss Venie Sinsheimer, Mrs. Simon Frankel, Mrs. Sidney H. Herman, Mrs. Milton M. Goldsmith, Miss Elizabeth Baum, Mrs. Samuel D. Levy, Mrs. Lester Oppenheimer, Mrs. Leopold Plaut, Mrs. Victor. Polstein, Mrs. Isaac S. Sanger, Mrs. Arthur Seligman, Mrs. Lawrence Ruckeyser and Miss Eleanor Sinsheimer.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Yeshivah of Flatbush is sponsoring an afternoon Bridge and Tea at the Brighton Laundry, February 13, at 1:30 p. m. A pleasant afternoon is in store for all who attend.

The cast for the musical revue “Highlights of 1935,” to be staged February 17 at Temple Israel, Jamaica, has just been announced by Charles Oppenheimer, chairman of the event. The feminine leads will be played by Mmes. David Mendoza, Samuel Weintraub, Victor Rinder, Harold Greenbaum, Mortimer Isaacs, Samuel Broad and Morell Cohn and the Misses Pauline Rosenwasser, Charlotte Fatowe and Joan Kates Roth.

The chairman of the Brooklyn Hadassah membership campaign committee, Mrs. J. H. Kessler, reports that the 22 Hadassah groups of Brooklyn are enrolling a great number of new members. It is expected that thousands of new members will join the organization before the close of the campaign on March 5. Mrs. K. Taub, president of the Brooklyn group, has issued an appeal to Brooklyn’s women in a special pamphlet that is written around the slogan: Join the Hadassah and see Palestine grow.

The auxiliary of the Hillside-Hollis Hebrew Center plans a card party for February 11 at the Center under the chairmanship of Mrs. Louis Rabinowitz.

Another party is going to be held on March 11. Mrs. Dora Kirstein and Mrs. Blanche Maller will be co-chairmen of the event and they will be assisted by Mmes. Louis Rabinowitz, Rose Rosenthal, Joseph Share, Henrietta Schonberger and Minnie Strauch.

Arrangements for the annual donor supper-dance on March 3 at the Jamaica Jewish Center were made at a meeting of the board of directors of the Jamaica chapter of Hadassah last Tuesday. Mrs. Minna Canner, chairman, announced that the 35 members of the board will assist her in making the event a success. Mrs. Mordecai Konowitz will be in charge of the program.

Mrs. Thyra Samter Winslow of Kew Gardens, author and scenario writer, addressed the Kew Forest Welfare League last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. David Cohen, Continental avenue, Forest Hills. Mrs. Winslow, who has just returned from Hollywood, spoke on “Impressions of Hollywood” and depicted very interestingly the life behind the scenes of the moving picture colony.

The fourth annual dinner dance of the League will be held on February 16 at the Casino de Paree. Mrs. J. Y. Wilkins and Mrs. David Salisch are in charge.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Congregation Sons of Israel will hold a bunco party on February 19. Mrs. Joseph Baumfeld, chairman, will be assisted by Mrs. Ernest Stoloff and Mrs. Bergenthal.

The National Council of Jewish Women, Richmond Hill section, will sponsor a Monte Carlo night on February 16 at the Beth Israel Community Center under the leadership of Mrs. Henrietta Feinberg and Mrs. Tillie Levy. The Jewish Contemporary Affairs unit of this group does especially effective work. Mrs. Florence Einstein is chairman of the religious activities.

The Sisterhood of Temple Israel, Jamaica, will celebrate Parents’ Day on March 5 at the Temple. Presidents of local Jewish organizations will be invited to speak and important religious and educational problems will be discussed.

The Young Folks’ League of the Jewish Center of Williamsbridge will hold its first social meeting of the year on Sunday, February 10, at 8:30 p. m. in the Center, 2910 Barnes avenue, the Bronx.

There will be dancing and refreshments will be served. Guests will be cordially welcomed.

Mrs. S. Ely Liebow gave a bridge and Dutch supper Wednesday night at her home, 158 Wegman parkway, Jersey City, on behalf of the Congregation Emanu-El of that city. Twenty tables of players participated. Proceeds of the evening will go to the congregation, of which Mr. Liebow is president.
