A counter attack against Sir Oswald Mosley, who is now openly conducting anti-Semitic propaganda in Great Britain, was launched here by Sir Herbert Samuel at a meeting which he addressed at Egerton.
“His denunciations are impressive, but his practical proposals are childish,” Sir Herbert said, referring to Mosley. “His description of present conditions is contradicted by plain facts. His policy really does not deserve an examination. In matters of trade and finance it is crude and unconconvicing to the last degree.”
Sir Herbert spoke of conditions in Fascist Germany, and emphasized that in spite of unemployment in England, the average workingman in Hitler’s country looks with envy on the standard of living of the workingman of Democratic England and America. He concluded with a warning against Fascism in Great Britain.
