Preparations for the extraordinary session of the American Jewish Congress to be held in Philadelphia March 16 and 17, are going forward in many Jewish communities throughout the land, it was announced yesterday. More than 5,000 delegates, many of them from the most distant sections of the country, are expected to attend.

The Newark branch of the American Jewish Congress called a meeting yesterday at the local Y. M. H. A. for the purpose of electing delegates. Monday night there was a local meeting in Pittsburgh, and yesterday in Austin, Texas, to elect delegates. On March 7, a meeting has been called in Bridgeport, Conn., for the same purpose. Dr. Joshua L. Goldberg, national secretary of the American Jewish Congress, will address the meeting. On the same day the Bronx Division of the American Jewish Congress has called a borough conference to elect delegates.

Also on March 7, 250 organizations are expected to attend a conference called by the Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Ridgewood section of the American Jewish Congress for the election of delegates. The meeting will take place at Knapp Mansion, 554 Bedford avenue.
