An international music festival which will be held here in May will include an open-air presentation of a musical drama, “Savonarola,” by Alessia, which will be performed in the same place where the Florentine monk was burnt at the stake for heresy in 1498.

A Jewish composer, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, has been entrusted with the composition of the music for the performance. Designation of Castelnuovo-Tedesco was with the approval of Premier Mussolini.
