zig has hitherto laid its hope upon the belief that the Polish government would never consent to give Danzig up voluntarily to the Reich. The statement of the Nazi government to England makes it clear, however, that some kind of understanding exists between Poland and Nazi Germany about Danzig. Thus the Jews in Danzig can no longer count on assistance from Poland.

Most of the Jews in Danzig are Polish citizens. In liquidating their business in Danzig they contemplate returning to their native country. A number of Jews in Danzig are also stateless, since they were formerly citizens of Germany.
