standing committee could not agree was whether or not the agreement with Jabotinsky should be approved in principle, at the same time empowering the leadership of the Laborites to negotiate for alterations in its text, subject to the approval of the forthcoming Histadruth conference. The opposition declared that any alterations in the text might endanger the agreement and could not be interpreted as a rejection of the peace pact.
