day’s Official Gazette state that the Jewish Agency will continue to receive immigration certificates under the Labor Schedule. It is, however, believed that the government will remove from the Labor Schedule all the certificates which it grants directly to Jewish employes upon applications of employers sent in directly to the government.
The new regulations provide opportunity for Jewish farmers and industrialists to bring over to Palestine Jewish workers who are qualified for the work now required in Palestine.
Negotiations have been going on between the government and leading Jewish industrialists and farmers in Palestine, who want special certificates granted to them so that they may choose laborers from European countries fit for work on the soil and qualified for the new industrial enterprises now being developed in the country.
The farmers and industrialists, in these negotiations with the government, have complained that Jewish immigrants now entering Palestine under the Labor Schedule granted to the Jewish Agency remain in the cities and do not choose to work on the land or in any industry where the wages are not as high as those offered in the cities.
