First Prayer in 500 Years to Be Said in Cordoba Temple

The fourth day of the Maimonides celebrations in Spain was marked today by events emphasizing the contribution of the Jewish philosopher and physician of the twelfth century to medicine.

A comparison was drawn between the medical achievements of today and the medical contributions made by Maimonides nearly 800 years ago in an address delivered by Prof. Jose Goyanes of the University of Madrid before a scientific assembly. The Spanish professor pointed out that much of the medical advice given by Maimonides is still recommended by the medical profession of today.

For the first time in five centuries, a Jewish prayer will be recited tomorrow in the ancient synagogue of Cordoba on the occasion of the Maimonides celebration. No such prayer has been heard within the walls of the
