Canadian Jewry is now on the eve of its annual United Palestine Appeal Campaign, The drive will be formally opened here on Sunday when a banquet will be held at the king Edward Hotel.
The guest speaker will be Dr. A. L. Sacher, prominent young Jewish professor at the University of Illinois, and Archibald J. Freiman of Ottawa, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada.
Of particular interest to Canadian Jewry has been the announcement by the Keren Hayesod that 500 Jewish families will be colonized this year at Emek Hepher. Applications for settlement there have been filed by 8,000 Jews in all parts of the world. Canadian Jewry participated in the purchase of Emek and is eager to further colonization of the beautiful stretch of land.
