The New Deal adopted by the federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, as a result of which fund-raising activity is to be placed on a year-round basis instead of the short, intensive drive system previously followed, was warmly hailed Friday by philanthropic Jewish business, civic and spiritual leaders.
The new plan will make for increased stability, it was generally agreed. So great was the gap between Federation’s assured annual income and the funds needed for a minimum budget for the ninety-one affiliated institutions, it was said, that continued dependence on a short campaign to meet the deficit, as has been Federation’s practice in past years, would be folly.
KOPS PRESENTS PLAN
Active support of the twelvemonth program was pledged at a dinner and reception Thursday night to Samuel D. Leidesdorf, newly elected president, and Waldemar Kops, the new chairman of the business men’s council of Federation. The affair was held at the Hotel Commodore.
