Jewish leaders in New Jersey were highly elated today over the new anti-Nazi law approved last night by Governor Harold G. Hoffman, prohibiting the dissemination of anti-Jewish propaganda throughout the State of New Jersey. The law was passed last night in the Senate by a vote of 14 to 1.
The new law does not specify Nazism, nevertheless the authorities in New Jersey were prepared today to check Nazi activities in the State under this law, which provides a jail sentence of from ninety days to three years and a fine of $200# to $5,000 for the dissemination of propaganda tending to incite race, color or creed hatred.
The new law applies not only to speakers but also to owners of halls where meetings are held and also to publications. Senator Dryden Kuser of Somerset was the only member of the Senate who voted against the law.
