The municipality of Salonica today allocated 60,000 drachmas for Passover relief for the Jewish population of the city.

Simultaneously, Governor Rhallis of the Salonica District, announced today that the Jews of this city are entitled to three seats in the Greek Parliament and that the government will do its utmost to obtain this number of seats for them in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

The elections to the new Parliament are scheduled for May 19. It is expected that Jews will have five seats there including the three from this city.

A number of Jewish leaders are now contesting the candidacy of the president of the Zionist Federation for a seat in the Parliament asserting that he was a supporter of Venizelos who organized the recent revolt against the present regime. The Jewish population of Greece has been supporting the present regime ever since it came into power.
