A definite effort to involve the B’nai B’rith in the trial on the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” which is scheduled to resume here April 29, will be made by Nazi “experts” in court, it was learned here today.
The Nazi “experts,” who have hitherto claimed that the “Protocols” are records of the first Zionist Congress in Basle, will declare in court that they had made a mistake. They will contend that the alleged “Protocols” were not laid down at the first Zionist Congress but “at a simultaneous Freemason Congress of the Jewish B’nai B’rith Order.”
FLEISCHHAUER TESTIMONY
This will be the “expert” opinion, to be submitted to the court by Lieut.-Col. Fleischhauer on behalf of the Swiss Nazis, against whom the Federation of Jewish Communities in Switzerland has brought libel charges for spreading the “Protocols” in Switzerland.
Herr Fleischhauer’s “expert opinion” to the court is still unpublished, but its contents were given in the Westdeutscher Beobachter, the leading Nazi paper of Cologne. Herr Fleischhauer is the chief Nazi “expert” for the defense.
“SECRET” UNEARTHED IN POLAND
The Westdeutscher Beobachter, in publishing in advance a summary of Fleischhauer’s testimony, says that a special investigation conducted by the Nazis in Poland “revealed the secret” that at all Zionist Congresses, dual Congresses are held.
“It was discovered that a B’nai B’rith Congress was also held in 1897,” the paper writes, “and it was at this Congress that the ‘Protocols’ were decided upon. Thus, the assertion by Jewish witnesses before the Berne court was true insofar as the ‘Protocols’ were not discussed at the Basle Congress. However, in true hair-splitting style, they were silent about the second parallel Congress.”
