Seek Revival of Pole-jewish Amity Group

Revival of the defunct Polish-Jewish Good Will Committee for cooperation between Jewish and non-Jewish natives of Poland in America, was waged by a number of non-Jewish speakers at a banquet by the Federation of Polish Jews in America Monday at the Park Royal Hotel, to Dr. Joseph Fisch, former attache of the Polish Consulate here and general secretary of the American-Polish Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Fisch resigned the latter post to move permanently to Palestine.

More than one hundred guests attended the banquet, with Z. Tygel as toastmaster.

Benjamin Winter, president of the Federation, in his speech at the banquet discussed the present situation of the Jews in Poland. Other speakers included Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, former president of the Polish-Jewish Good Will Committee in America, Alexander Z. English, who represented the Polish Consul-General, Re. Dr. Sabianofsky of the Roman Catholic Church and other noted personalities of the Polish colony here.

Greetings were received also from Morris D. Waldman, secretary of the American Jewish Committee; Mr. Gluchowsky of the Polish-Gdynia Line; Israel Smolar of the Polish-Atlantic Shipping Company; P. Yolles, editor of the Polish Daily “Nowy Swiat,” Z. H. Rubinstein, city editor of The Day and others.
