Classes in the Yiddish language for non-Jewish workers were opened today in Biro-Bidjan by the local administration of this autonomous Jewish region in the Far East.
This is the first time that Russian workers will be taught the Yiddish language in government schools. The request for the classes came from the non-Jewish workers engaged in various projects in the Bureya. The workers, most of whom are Russians, want to learn Yiddish so that they may maintain normal relations with the Jewish population.
