The Palestine government has granted to the municipality of Tel Aviv 700 dunams of land to extend the boundaries of this rapidly growing city, it will be announced in the press tomorrow.
Twenty-five new Jewish settlements were established in Palestine the past year by private and national Jewish capital, it was announced today. Four of these colonies were settled with German-Jewish colonists and are now accommodating 800 Jewish families from Germany
180 JEWISH COLONIES
Commenting on the expansion of Jewish colonization in Palestine, the Hebrew press today points out that prior to the establishment of these new twenty-five colonies there were 180 Jewish settlements in the Holy Land occupying a territory of 1,300,000 dunams of land.
The land which the Palestine government has granted this city for expansion purposes is located beyond the Yarkon River.
Tel Aviv today is the largest city in Palestine, with a population of approximately 150,000.
The Palestine government is now considering measures to restrict rentals on shops and offices here since growth of the city is resulting in exorbitant rentals. Rentals for dwellings were restricted last year by the government to a maximum of $12 per room.
