Dr. Max Thorek, chief surgeon of the American Hospital and attending surgeon at the Cook County Hospital, has been awarded the Cross of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France in recognition of his contribution to science and his humanitarian work.

The meritorious emblem for thirty-five years of service to boys will be awarded to Dr. Philip L. Seman, general director of the Jewish People’s Institute of Chicago, at the annual banquet of the Boys’ Clubs of America, which is to be held in conjunction with their annual convention at the Commodore Hotel in New York City on Wednesday evening, May 22.

Mrs. R. D. Katz has been installed as president of the Dorothy Kahn Club, one of Chicago’s leading philanthropic organizations.

Dr. Samuel S. Hollender has been installed president of the Covenant Club of Chicago.
