An appeal to the Greek government to aid in the maintenance of local Jewish institutions was addressed today by the leaders of the Salonica Jewish Community, who emphasized that only government aid can save a number of Jewish institutions in this city of 60,000 Jewish inhabitants.

At a press conference today, leaders of the Jewish community explained that the continued deficit of 1,000,000 drachmas each year makes the position of the Jewish community critical.
