The executive committee of the Polish Social Democratic Party today adopted a resolution to abstain from the coming elections to the Sejm, the Polish parliament, because of the recently enacted election laws which make it impossible for any minority group or party to play a role in the Sejm.
At the same time the Social Democratic Party appealed to all minority groups also to abstain from the coming elections. In this way they hope to show the government how bitter is their resentment of the new laws.
The Zionist Council in Congress Poland today also decided to obstain from participation in the elections.
The Bund, Jewish Socialist Party in Poland, and the Poale Zion, Zionist Socialist Party, today declared to a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that in all likelihood they will accede to the request of the Polish Social Democratic Party and will refrain from participating in the elections.
When first proclaimed, the new electoral law was met with a general strike called by the Polish Social Democratic Party, in which the Bund and other Jewish labor bodies participated.
By the new law, Jewish representation in the Sejm will be drastically cut.
