The Czechoslovakian Consulate in Jerusalem has been elevated to a Consulate General, as a result of the growing economic relations between Palestine and Czechosolvakia.
The Czechosiovakian – Palestine Chamber of Commerce reports that beginning next Spring, a new branch for the import of Palestine goods will be opened here. Vegetables grown in Palestine will be made available on the Czechoslovakian market.
The report states that Czechoslovakia is importing vegetables from Egypt, and that these same varieties are now being grown in Palestine with greater success. The importation of vegetables by Czechoslovakia has until now been hindered by certain transport and tariff regulations, but these, the report adds, will be settled during the present year.
The Chamber of Commerce also publishes a statement concerning the new Consulate General in Jerusalem. In welcoming the decision of the government, it states that hitherto Czechoslovakia had been in a somewhat unique position in Palestine as it was the only European country not represented by a Consulate General there.
