Fifty-two Communist prisoners held in Jerusalem and Haifa jails for alleged illegal political activity accepted food today after having yesterday agreed to end their two-week hunger strike.
The Hunger strike was called when the prisoners balked at being treated like ordinary criminals. They charged they were forced to don prison garb. The government denied this charge and explained that it was not within the descretion of the prison officials to give special consideration to political prisoners unless the court specificially so orders.
