The Jewish Community of Czernowitz was in a state of high tension today as a result of the disclosure yesterday that one student had been killed and seven others wounded following a riot that marked the end of a convention of anti-Semitic groups held there last Sunday.

The killing was the result of an attack by Cuzists, returning from the congress, upon Jews in the village of Briceva in Bessarabia. Passing through the village, which is largely Jewish, the anti-Semitic followers of the notorious Prof. Alexander Cuza attacked passersby. The entire village, led by the Mayor, rushed to their defense and forced the attacking students to flee.

News of the incident was suppressed by the authorities as a precaution against further disorders.
