JERUSALEM (Jan. 6)
High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope today visited Nablus in an effort, it was reported, to convince Arab leaders to agree to the establishment of a legislative council for Palestine.
Arab parties are scheduled to meet tomorrow to formulate a reply to the High Commissioner’s proclamation of a council on December 20.
The party of the Grand Mufti and that of the Arab Youth Congress today adopted resolutions rejecting the council and demanding an Arab national government and a law-making parliament. The council as outlined by the High Commissioner would have limited powers, with complete veto rights vested in the High Commissioner.
