In order that the delegation of three British Jewish leaders, consisting of Simon Marks, Sir Herbert Samuel and Lord Bearsted, might participate, the National Conference on Palestine, originally scheduled for February 8 and 9, will be held instead February 1 and 2 at the Hotel Willard, Washington, D.C., it was announced today by the provisional committee, headed by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, which is planning the Washington Conference.
The decision to change the date of the meeting followed a series of telephone conversations with members of the delegation in London who urged that the Conference schedule be revised so that they could be present.
The National Conference on Palestine, intended as a mobilization of American Jewish leaders in response to the critical situation of Jews abroad, has been called to stimulate American interest in a large-scale program for the settlement in Palestine of great numbers of the Jews of Germany and other Central and East European lands.
The Provisional Conference Committee in addition to Dr. Stephen S. Wise, include Dr. Israel Goldstein, Maurice Levin, Louis Lipsky, Morris Rothenberg and Nathan Straus.
