Kosher slaughtering was banned yesterday in this city by M. Wieckowski, president of Poznan, under a law still in effect from the days when the province of Posen was a part of Prussia.

He prohibited the slaughtering of animals which have not been first stunned. Stunning contravenes the Jewish orthodox code.

The Jewish community is petitioning the Ministry of Cults and Education complaining that the edict serves to deprive the Jews of meat.
