Ernest Thurtle, Labor M.P., who formerly lived in New York City, disclosed today that he has received a number of threats from Fascists for his address in Commons last Thursday charging Fascist intimidation of Jewish shopkeepers in London’s East End.
He also said that he had had a long discussion with Sir John Simon, Secretary for Home Affairs, in which he described Fascist activities in England.
In response to an interrogation by Mr. Thurtle in Commons, Sir John had declared that police are closely watching cases of intimidation in the East End, adding that special measures had been taken to keep order. Mr. Thurtle charged that police were treating certain cases of Fascist violation of law “with indulgence.”
