Following announcement by 75-year-old Mayor Dizengoff that he was leaving office to recuperate from a recent illness, the Municipal Council today abolished the praesidium and elected in its place a council of four to rule the city.
Two laborites and two centrists were named to the council. Israel Rokach was named acting mayor.
