76 Million Rubles to Be Spent in Biro-bidjan in 1936

The Soviet Peoples Commissariat today officially confirmed plans for Biro-Bidjan, Jewish autonomous territory in Siberia, involving a total expenditure in 1936 of 76,036,000 rubles.

Of the sum approved, 50,036,000 rubles have been assigned for capital investments; 19,500,000 for long term credits and 6,500,000 for the migration activities of COMZET, organization for the settlement of Russian Jews on the land.

The sum represents an increase of 51,000,000 rubles over last year’s budget for the territory.

The Commissariat also confirmed a project by White Russia to send 225 families, numbering 1,109 individuals, to Biro-Bidjan this year.
