The Federation of Polish Jews in America was notified today that the House of Representatives has unanimously adopted a joint resolution directing the Secretary of the Interior to provide a site in Washington for the erection of a memorial to Haym Salomon, who helped finance the American Revolution.

The resolution states the memorial is “in recognition of the Patriotic and meritorious services rendered by him to the United States Government during the most trying period of the American Revolution.” It was introduced by Congressman Gillette.

In an accompanying announcement, the Federation hailed passage of the resolution as “culmination of its efforts to bring to the attention of the people of America the great services rendered to the cause of this nation’s independence by a Jewish immigrant from Poland, who quietly and selflessly gave his entire fortune and his very life to the cause of American liberty.”
