Offer of the Hebrew University student body to establish a Jewish military unit within the British Army in order to help the Government cope with Arab disorders was officially rejected today.

Notification of the rejection was made by the Palestine Government to the student corporation, “El Al”, with the explanation that such a unit was impossible because Palestinians, whether Jews or non-Jews, are not being enlisted in the British Army.

The corporation was advised, however, that its members may enlist in the Transjordan frontier force and in the Palestine police.
