Michon Ventura, professor of Roman law at the University of Istanbul, was appointed chief rabbi of Turkey yesterday. He succeeds the late Haim Effendi Bedjarano in that post.
Prof. Ventura, a native of this city, was formerly a judge in Macedonia, held a legislative post in the Turkish Government, and has been active in improving the relations between Turks and Jews. He was a member of the commission that revised Turkish law. He is 53 years old.
