Dr. Stephen S. Wise, of New York, president of the American Jewish Congress, said yesterday he would not sit with American Jewish Communists at the forthcoming World Jewish Congress in Geneva.
“We would rather have no congress at all then admit to the congress those who have approved the Arab terror in Palestine,” he declared.
(A conference of Jewish radical groups in New York last Sunday elected five delegates who will seek admission to the world parley, scheduled to begin August 8.)
Receiving an ovation on his arrival here from London, Dr. Wise conferred with Jewish leaders and later said in a press statement that the Zionist position was very serious but should not be exaggerated.
“We may have temporary obstacles, but ultimately the Jewish national home will come out victorious,” he said.
Rabbi Wise is here on a week’s visit in behalf of the world congress and to investigate the conditions of the Polish Jews.
