Martial law for Palestine has not yet been decided upon, Great Britain and the East, semi-official organ of the Colonial Office, will say in an editorial tomorrow.
The periodical draws an analogy between the Palestine situation and that which prevailed in the post-War Irish difficulties, declaring that martial law may be applied, as it was then, only in certain districts.
In such an event the civil administration of Palestine will not be entirely superseded, the magazine states.
It was disclosed that the following order-of-the-day has been issued by the commanding officer at the Aldershot barracks to troops departing for Palestine Saturday:
“Wishing you the best of luck during what I hope and believe will only be a short visit to Palestine.”
