Official figures disclosed today that twenty-three percent of Austria’s new conscript army of 15,000 is Jewish, although the Jews form three percent of the population.

Eighty percent of the Jews called to duty were found fit, as against only thirty percent before the World War. The first conscript to be registered was a Jewish youth named Abeles.
