2 Jews Killed in New Bagdad Outbreak

SIGN UP FOR THE JTA DAILY BRIEFING

Two Jews, one a Government official, were killed today by Arabs despite the manifestos issued by the Government and Arab leaders in Iraq urging their co-religionists to desist from anti-Jewish attacks.

The victims were Reuben Zion Barmag, a government officer, who was slain in a village during the performance of his duties. The assassin decapitated him. The second Jew was employed in a medical clinic and killed by a Moslem servant employed in the institution.

Recent reports in the Arab press had asserted that fifteen Jews had been killed in the Iraq capital since the Palestine disorders broke out last April. Earlier this week Bagdad Jews had ended a three-day strike against Arab terrorism after receiving a promise of protection from the government.
