An international committee headed by Hugh Walpole, English author, announced today that Yoldina Foldes, Hungarian Jewess, has won a $20,000 prize for the best book of the year in the German language.
The prize was offered by the Pinker Literary Agency of London in conjunction with Pinker and Morrison, Inc., of New York. The book has been purchased by the Warner Brothers film studies and will be produced under the title, “The Last Chapter.”
A German advisory committee had suggested Dr. Paul Neubauer, a Czechoslovakian Jew, for the award.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
