Rumania’s tenth anti-Jewish party was announced today by Prof. Nichifer Crainic, recently expelled from the National Christian Party, which he had helped organize.
As a result of internal dissension within the National Christian Party, a mass meeting it had scheduled in Bucharest for Nov. 1 was postponed until Nov. 8–coinciding with the eightieth birthday of its leader, Prof. Alexander Cuza.
The Ministry of Interior issued authorization for the rally on condition that there be no anti-Semitic disturbances. It was learned that 400,000 swastika badges made in Germany are being peddled by members of the party on the streets of Bucharest.
Dr. Crainic attacked the party as “a cesspool of putrefied flesh and moral decay.” He declared that the “members of the National Christian Party will swallow each other like mythological snakes until the party disappears.”
Until his expulsion, he was second to Dr. Cuza in command of the part and was instrumental in organizing the party last year.
