A court martial in Brasov today sentenced five members of the anti-Semitic Iron Guard to prison terms ranging from three to six months for threatening to murder ex-Premier, Virgil Madgearu, leader of the National Peasants Party, whom they had accused of “selling his soul to the Jews.”

A monument to Ion G. Duca, Rumanian Premier assassinated by Iron Guardists in 1934, was destroyed by Nazis in the town of Lunca, Husi province. After the monument had been pulled down, large swastikas were painted on the base.
