A statement showing the decline in the number of Jewish students in Hungarian universities was published today by the Union of Jewish students in connection with recent anti-Semitic disorders in universities.
“In 1932-3, the number of Jewish students in Hungarian universities totalled 1,970 while today they are only 1,180,” the statement said. “Of the 538 first year students then, only 356 remain, because poverty and misery prevented one Jewish student in three from continuing his studies.”
