The Netherlands Government views the German swastika flag as a “political, and not a national emblem, “and will not permit its display at the forthcoming wedding of Crown Princess Juliana to Prince Bernhard Von Lippe-Biesterfeld of Germany, the semi-official Nederlandsch Correspondentie-Bureau asserted here, according to the Havas News Agency.
The swastika represents a political opinion not shared by the majority of the Reich’s people, the agency said. Prince von Lippe-Biesterfeld is not to be considered a German prince, but a prince of Lippe-Biesterfeld, it added. His colors and those of the Netherlands will be the only ones flown at the marriage ceremony.
