Emphasizing that Rumania is a signatory to the San Remo peace treaty which ratified the Balfour Declaration committing Great Britain to promote establishment of a Jewish National home in Palestine, Dr. Meyer Ebner, president of the Rumanian Zionist Federation, voiced the hope today in a statement that the Government would soon withdraw its restriction on collection of Zionist funds.

The statement explains that hitherto the transfer of Zionist funds to Palestine had been made in accordance with an agreement between the Palestine-Rumanian Chamber of Commerce and the Rumanian National Bank on the basis of Rumanian exports to Palestine.

(Following announcement last week by the Minister of Interior that special permits would be needed for Zionist fund collection, J.N.F. collection boxes were confiscated by the authorities.)
