Climaxed by an unsuccessful attempt this morning to assassinate Haifa’s Arab mayor, Hassan Bey Shukri, a new wave of Arab terrorism broke out during the night in northern parts of Palestine.

Several shots were fired at Mayor Shukri as he entered the municipal offices in Haifa. The assassin escaped.

The night was marked by a number of bombings and sporadic shooting, principally by Arab bands against Arabs who refused to contribute funds to their upkeep. Arab shops in Haifa and Acre were bombed.
