A determined campaign to oust Jews from Rumanian bar associations is being pressed by anti-Semites in many parts of the country, according to the Czernowitzer Morgenblatt today.

At a general meeting in Jassy, speakers addressing the city’s bar group demanded total expulsion of Jews from the legal profession in Rumania.

According to the Morgenblatt, similar campaigns are being conducted in the bar associations of Bucharest and the province of Bukovina.

Refuting the allegation that Jews comprise a predominant element in the bar, the paper states that in Bukovina the number of Jewish lawyers has dropped below the proportion of Jews to the general population.
