Immigration of as many Jews into Palestine as possible was termed a “life and death” issue by Moshe Shertok, head of the political department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, in an address today at a Zionist conference.

Mr. Shertok, here on a visit from Jerusalem, declared there could be no peace in the Holy Land if Jewish development there was forced into a “strait-jacket” made by the Grand Mufti, Moslem spiritual leader. He voiced the conviction that enlightened world opinion would not concede the Arab claim for exclusive domination in Palestine.

Prof. Selig Brodetsky, member of the executive of the World Zionist Organization, asserted roundtable conferences, as suggested by Vladimir Jabotinsky, Revisionist leader, were unnecessary since the Revisionists would be welcomed back to the W.Z.O. at any time as long as they did not pursue a policy different from the World Zionist Congress.

“The Zionists wanted united ranks,” he declared. “The Revisionists had a place in the Zionist Organization. Their chairs at the Congress are awaiting them.”
